Daily Replacement Soft Lenses

There are a wide variety of soft lens options available, all of which you wear once and then throw them away. They are suitable for the majority of prescriptions, including those with astigmatism. The great advantage with daily replacement lenses is that you will not require cleaning and disinfecting solutions.

Unlike spectacles, contact lenses allow clear vision with images that are normal size.  Some spectacles magnify, others minify.  Contact lenses let you see in “real size”.

Modern contact lenses now have a silicon content.  Silicon is great for oxygen transfer which means healthier eyes and longer wearing times.  Corneal cells have to be clear in order to see so unlike the rest of your body, there are no blood vessels to supply oxygen to keep the corneal cells alive.  Oxygen goes direct into the cornea from the air.  Silicon helps this process much more than older lens materials.

Some contact lenses now feature a boost in power centrally to assist with modern digital lifestyles using smartphones, tablets and laptops.  Your occupation and hobbies can influence the most appropriate contact lens design for you.

Monthly Replacement Soft Lenses

These are a popular and economical option. You wear your lenses during the day then take them out at night to clean and disinfect them. The latest silicone hydrogel materials allow longer wearing times.

Gas Permeable Lenses

These are manufactured from a rigid plastic material that allows oxygen to pass through them to keep your eyes healthy. They are suitable for all prescriptions and require less cleaning than soft lenses.

A wide variety of contact lenses are now available to correct your vision if you have astigmatism, including daily and monthly replacement options.
